Parliamentary Questions

IPSA is independent of Parliament and of Government.  We are, however, accountable for its work and for how it spends public funds so we welcome public scrutiny and the need to be held accountable for our actions. As part of this, we answer written Parliamentary Questions (PQs) from Members of Parliament.

Because we do not have a Government Minister to answer questions on our behalf, our answers are submitted by us in the form of a letter from the Chief Executive to Charles Walker,  the MP for Broxbourne who sits on the Speaker’s Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, the parliamentary committee that scrutinises IPSA’s expenditure.

Our answers to PQs are published in Hansard under Mr Walker’s name. Each answer clarifies that the reply is ours and not Mr Walker’s.

For ease of reference, we are also publishing a log of these PQs.
