About IPSA

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is a new and independent body created by the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009. It will provide rigorous scrutiny and review of the allowances scheme for Members of Parliament. The establishment of this new body will represent a break from old practices and put in place a new independent system for the payment of salaries and allowances for MPs.

The IPSA is made up of four members and a Chair, as below. Selection to the Authority is on merit and by fair and open competition.
